The other side of the old girl

I will soon be cutting into the drivers side. Good news is that the quarter is solid. I just need to fabricate a tail piece and hang the replacement door. Stay tuned - body work starts in May....

The inner wheel wells are great except for one small area around the hinge - top left. I will cut out any rot and fabricate a replacement piece. This should be much easier than the quarter issues I had.

Moving to the front

A couple years ago I installed a new cam, timing chain, gears, push rods and hydraulic lifters. Then topped her off with a new Holley Carb. Now I will concentrate on the metal work around this original 318 poly.

As you can see the floor is solid. I just need to clean it up, paint it and install sound proof and new carpet.

Once the panel was complete it was time to hit the root of the cause. The rotten panel was a result of the rain gutter that carries away the rain from the convertible top was rusted out. This allowed rusty water to flow into the panel. I couldn't find a replacement rain gutter so I hand fabricated this one. Once I shoot it with rocker guard and paint it will be good as new.

Quarter panel is installed

The Quarter panel is now installed. I used the panel adhesive and it worked very well. I also took the time to grind and feather the edges of the panel so less filler will be required when finishing.
